I was caught in the same trap. Herman also phoned me and requested that I do an urgent valuation of his smallholding which is very close to a site I am working on, he said he had a breakin the previous night and he asked if I could please buy 2 x R275 vodacom airtime for his wife who needed to pay out wages, and bring it with, but first I read him the recharge code, he said he had money in the safe and will repay me. Stupidly I did that and when I phoned to confirm the address on my way, he off course gave me an address that does not exist.

Herman Malan called from 0723701998 / +27723701998 and asked us to come and do a site assessment on his farm 207 / 209 Bultfontein, Kromdraai, pyramid plots on the ou warmbad road.
Said he had cash to pay the deposit for the system. Also that he was leaving for Australia for 3 weeks and he did not want to leave the money at the house while he is away. Insisted we come today.
He could not give accurate directions and said we will see the board if we drive down the road.
When we were close he called and asked us to buy 3 x R275 Vodacom airtime. 1 for data and 1 each for him and his wife. I said I only had a petro card and can't buy airtime with it. He said I should see if I can make a plan. I just said yes.
When we got to the adres where he said they were nobody knew the person or family and there was no such address.
This guy is a big time shyster that want's to steal your time, money and petrol. If he calls send him to hell.

Scam alert: I've just been conned, and I'm still dumbstruck that some people sit and think of these kind of things. A man phone me and requested that I do an urgent valuation of his smallholding which is very close to a development which we are marketing, he said he had a breakin the previous night and he asked if I could please buy 2 x R275 vodacom airtime for his wife and bring it with, he said he had money in the safe and will repay me. Stupidly I did that and when I phoned to confirm the address on my way, he off course gave me an address that does not exist, he asked if I could please give him the airtime numbers so long that his wife can make some urgent phone calls, and then off course that was the last I heard if him. Surprised that I was caught. Actually quite funny. What a sorry soul. The number that he phoned me from is +27 (72) 3701998.

Scam . Asked for a quote on work at his farm Suiwelslaagte. Then asked for 2 x R275 airtime as he will pay us back on the farm. Money gone.
Scammed replied 9/3/17, 6:08 PMSame thing happened to me. Also got a call from 0723701998 asking for work to be done on farm in delmas and wanted 2 x R275 airtime vouchers and will refund money when I arrive at farm.Person that called went by the name Arno.

Also scammed 28/01/2018. Phoned to say that his deep freezer has packed up and he has tons of meat for the Old Aged Home. Needed airtime for his wife so 2xR275 sent to him (and a Rapport newspaper required). General manager drove from Eshowe to Melmoth on a Sunday, to meet him and of course nothing. This time he has gone too far by scamming a non-profit organisation which is for old people. A charge will be laid at saps.
