TYPE OF CALL: SCAM - PRETENDING TO BE CALLING FROM MY BANK
I received a call at approximately 18h15 on 15/11/18 from the "Standard Bank Fraud Department". The "lady" calling did mention my initials and surname and which was correct. She then informed me that someone had made an online purchase for R5000 00 from my credit card but they had reversed the transaction. I asked for the name of the company/business/institution/person to whom the transaction was made and she said Easypay. The "lady" sounded very, very professional. She then informed me that they had blocked my card and I should go to the bank the next morning to receive a new card. I thanked her and then she started asking me questions re my card number, when I had made my last purchase, etc. I told her I did not have my card with me as I was not at home and thus could not supply her with any information. She said she will call me later when I got home. I then googled the 011 079 7550 number and saw all the negative comments. I also phoned Standard Bank Fraud Line and they informed me that this number is a scam number and that nobody had made any purchases on my card.
