Same scam as the others, Indian man tells me I have been paying R99 a month debit order and I now qualify for a new rate just have to agree to new Terms. As soon as you ask what they are selling when you agreed etc... they slam the phone down. Targeting older people who would agree to a saving.
Ader replied 1/15/18, 3:39 PMThey called me today n confirmed the account no. But I told them I know nothing about debt other membership. What should I do to stop this from deducting money on my acc -

Lady calls me and tells me that there is a R99 debit order going off my account every month for some kind of reward membership I took out. It is being reduced to R97. Told her I have never had any R99 debit orders and have no idea what she's talking about. Tells me I haven't received my card yet and the reason for this is because they are lowering my fee. So after this call they will send it. I keep telling her that I have no idea what she's talking about that there's no debit order and that I have not applied for any such membership. After she had been very persistent she said she would just rever back to the company(I have no idea wich company)to cancel my membership...(wich I never had)...or I will have to cancel my membership with the bank. Makes no sense at all. But just ended the conversation. Luckily I typed in the number she was calling from and came upon this website while talking to her so I got this very helpful information as it was almost the same as what the lady is saying to me.

Debit order scam- Hookam Trading, deducted R99 from my account, I had it reversed by my bank & a few hours later received a call from a very angry person telling me the deduction for a reward membership is now R97 instead of R99. I informed her that I never took out any 'reward' programme & have no debit orders on my account. She shouted at me & dropped the phone. I can't call the number back as it rings once & cuts off. This is typical scam behaviour. I wish banks could protect us from this nonsense.
